Creative Hour: Klapa Dišpet - Songs from the Fields

September 28 and 29, 2024 | 8 PM

We invite you to join us on September 28th and 29th at 8 PM for two special evenings with one of the most renowned female vocal ensembles in Croatia – Klapa Dišpet. For over 25 years, Klapa Dišpet has captivated audiences with their rich sound and dedicated work in preserving and revitalizing the musical heritage of Dalmatia. Their work has been recognised by numerous experts and professional associations from Croatia and the region, and they proudly boast 6 nominations for the Porin award, 14 awards at the Omiš Festival of Dalmatian Klapa, and 7 international competition awards, including 3 Grand Prix titles.

At Urania, they will present their new album "Jedna ura ‘lada" – a collection of premiere a cappella performances that depict the traditional labor of women in the fields, such as harvesting, grape picking, collecting wormwood, cutting ice, and boat hauling. Joining them at the concert will be special guests: on September 28th, Harmonija disonance, and on September 29th, Lidija Bajuk.

Klapa Dišpet will bring to life forgotten melodies that once accompanied daily life from Krk to Konavle. Through arrangements by renowned music experts, these two evenings will offer a glimpse into the lives of women from the past, filled with song and community.

Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable musical experience that takes us through the rich history of female klapa singing.
