We often encounter architecture through photographs, but how much do they reveal about a space, and how much do they interpret it? Can a building that is visually striking in photographs be rather ordinary in spatial terms? And to what extent does photography embellish reality?
In this conversation, we will explore how architectural education and professional experience shape one’s photographic approach to space, how the medium of photography influences our understanding of architecture, and where the photographer’s authorial approach and the architectural concept of the architect behind the work meet, complement one another, or diverge.
We will also examine the boundaries between documentation and interpretation, as well as the role photography plays in shaping public perceptions of architecture and its cultural value.
