The film program Queer Momenti during Pride Month marks the first days of summer with a film screening at ​​Urania - space of creation (Trg Eugena Kvaternika 3/3) on Wednesday 23rd June.

Cocoon (Kokon) is a coming of age film and an honest portrayal of girlhood set on the summer streets of Berlin.

Movie plot:

Germany / 2020 / Feature, 99 min

In the multicultural microcosm of her Berlin neighbourhood, 14-year-old Nora is going through many first times. She gets her first period, smokes marijuana, reveals her love for other girls, and meets wild Romy. With her, the noisy area of ​​Kreuzberg suddenly seems infinitely large and full of hidden beauties. While the summer heat sticks to her skin, Nora gives her heart to Romy and learns to take care of herself.

About the director:

Leonie Krippendorff was born in 1985 in Berlin. As a child, she lived with her mother and brother in a collective of musicians and art students. She graduated from photography school and studied directing at the Konrad Wolf Film University Babelsberg. Her graduation film Looping has won many international awards and nominations. The 2018 Berlinale Talents Script Station selected the screenplay for her first feature film Cocoon, and the film itself was part of the 2020 Berlinale Generation selection. Variety included it on the list of "10 Europeans to Watch 2020".
